Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has added Brad Shaw as an assistant coach and Kyle Gustafson as assistant/special assignment coach.

Additionally, assistant coaches Nolan Baumgartner, Jason King, goaltending coach Ian Clark, and video coach Darryl Seward, were all signed to contract extensions.

The club also announced that they have parted ways with assistant coach Newell Brown.

CanucksArmy has learned that Clark’s deal is five years in length, meaning it will expire when Thatcher Demko’s current contract expires as well, which is certainly good news for Canucks fans, who have long been clamouring for the club’s goaltending coach to be re-signed.

“We’re excited to welcome two new members to our coaching staff,” said head coach Travis Green. “Brad has a vast amount of coaching experience and a strong technical mind for the game. Kyle is a bright, young coach who will help our team and strengthens our coaching staff.”

Brad Shaw has served as an assistant coach in Columbus with the Blue Jackets for the past five seasons and previously served as an assistant and associate coach with the St. Louis Blues from 2006 to 2016, and before that, served as interim head coach of the New York Islanders during the 2005.06 season.
