J.P. Barry of CAA, the agency representing @Quinn Hughes and @Elias Pettersson, went on Donnie and Dhali – The Team on Chek TV today to discuss the contracts for the Canucks stars.
Recently, reports surfaced that the deal for Pettersson would be three years in length, while Hughes’ contract would likely be longer. Barry confirmed this to an extent, saying “we are exploring shorter term for Elias, 5 years and under, Quinn longer.”
Barry also added: “The Canucks have cap issues, I don’t think we can do long-term deals for Petey and Quinn. We have started the dance, we are engaged in talks.”
The latest reported information has also suggested that all talks between the two sides up to this point have been positive in nature, which is certainly welcome news for Canucks fans.
During his appearance, Barry also talked about the situation with Loui Eriksson heading into this offseason.
“We will have discussions with them around the time of buyouts,” Barry said. “We will see if that is the way to go.”
