To kick off the 2019 NHL Entry Draft at Rogers Arena, the Canucks have announced that they will be making an addition to the Ring of Honour.

Alexandre Burrows played 842 games with the Canucks from 2005-06 to 2016-17 before being traded to the Ottawa Senators at the trading deadline in 2017.

Burrows scored 193 goals and assisted on 191 goals in a Canucks uniform but is well known for his big goals throughout the Canucks playoff run in 2011.

Burrows joined the Canucks as an undrafted player who worked his way up from the ECHL all the way to becoming an NHL regular and then being a key cog on one of the best lines in the NHL for quite a few years. There was a point where it looked like Burrows wasn’t going to be able to secure a full-time role with the Canucks but he established himself as a gritty winger that got under opponents skins. Then on a hunch by then head coach Alain Vigneault to put Burrows with the twins, he took off from there.

The Pincourt, Quebec born winger wasn’t the most liked player in the league but was a fan favourite here in Vancouver. His story of perseverance and drive had many fans rooting for him.

Burrows is the 7th Canuck player to be inducted into the Canucks ring of honour joining Mattias Ohlund, Kirk McLean, Orland Kurtenbach, Harold Snepts, Pat Quinn, and Thomas Gradin.

At this moment, there is no word on the night that he will get his name added to the display in Rogers Arena but it is another night for fans to look forward to in the upcoming season.
