Bo Horvat has been selected to participate in the 62nd NHL All-Star Game in Los Angeles this February. It will be Horvat’s first appearance in an All-Star Game.
Horvat joins the likes of Linden, Bure, Naslund, Smyl, the Sedins and Luongo as such players who have played in the game. Most recently, Daniel Sedin represented the team in last year’s game.
There’s no argument on the selection of Horvat. He’s easily been the best Canucks player, really coming into his own this season and solidifying himself as a cornerstone player for years to come. The opportunity to get the Sedin Twins some added rest can not be left unacknowledged either. Keeping them fresh is better in the long run, and the opportunity for a young guy like Horvat to represent his team in such a big year where they will be honouring some of the best ever since it’s the 100th anniversary, it’s an experience he will not soon forget. It will be interesting to see if he takes part in any of the skills competition events, if I had to guess it’s likely he’ll be grouped into the skills challenge portion of the event. If Daniel Sedin isn’t there who will shoot the puck into the mini nets? Will there be a wiener dog challenge? I hope so.
So far this season, Horvat leads the team in points with 29, goals with 13, and sits second in assists with 16.
