The Olympics are here, which means that quite a few of the European leagues are on a break, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t story-lines to cover this week.
The injury bug has been running rampant through the Canucks prospect world, which casts a bit of a shadow but the Comets have been playing well.
This will be shorter than usual version but let’s dive in!

CANADIAN HOCKEY LEAGUE

Western Hockey League

  • Kole Lind was having a decent week with three goals and one assist in three games but that came to an abrupt halt after suffering an injury on Family Day. He is expected to be out for a while. His injury is below:
  • Jakub Stukel was held off the score sheet for all three games this week.

Ontario Hockey League

  • Matt Brassard continues to lead the Canucks prospects in the OHL – he had two assists in two games.
  • Brett McKenzie had one goal and one assist in four games with the Owen Sound Attack
  • Gadjovich was held off the score-sheet in the two games he did appear in but has missed the last couple with an injury. No word on his timeline.
  • Cole Candella had two assists in three games for Sudbury

  • Michael DiPietro had himself a good week picking 2 wins and his 5th shutout of the season.

NCAA

  • Adam Gaudette continues to pile up the points – with four goals and one assist in two games since last Thursday, which included a hattrick in the Beanpot final on Monday. He was named the Beanpot MVP.
  • William Lockwood’s season is done due to injury.

USHS

  • Jack Rathbone picks up one goal this past week.

EUROPE

Sweden

  • Elias Pettersson was held off the scoresheet in both games this past week – they play their next game on Feb 24.
  • Rodrigo Abols is on loan to BIK Karlskoga in Allsvenskan.
  • Two games and no points for Gunnarsson
  • Jonathan Dahlen broke the slump with one goal today – he was held without a point in the other game this past week.
  • Rodrigo Abols had one goal in one game.

Finland

  • Petrus Palmu picked up two assists in three games over the past seven days.
  • Olli Juolevi was held without a point over those same games but has been moving back up their backend.

Russia

  • Nikita Tryamkin did not play any games this past week as there is an Olympic break.
  • Zhukenov remains in the MHL – he is up to 7 goals and 14 assists in 26 games.

Czech Republic

  • Lukas Jasek did not appear in any games for Bili – but a goal was added to his totals.

AHL

  • Philip Holm and Nikolay Goldobin was recalled by the Canucks and currently remains with them
  • Reid Boucher remains with the Canucks.
  • Justin Taylor, Frank Simonelli, and David Dziurzynski were signed to PTO’s over the past week.

  • MacKenze Stewart’s was held off the scoresheet
  • Anton Cederholm with two goals in four games for Kalamazoo
