Blackfish: Canucks Army Weekly Prospect Report – October 13th, 2016
alt
Oct 13, 2016, 19:00 EDTUpdated:
NHL hockey season is here!
Some guy named Auston Matthews scored some goals last night, and some other kid named Connor Mcdavid looked good.
But that’s not why we are here, we are here to take at the past week for the Canucks prospects. That Brock Boeser kid looks good, while 2016 7th round pick Brett Mckenzie is making some noise in the OHL.
It’s Thursday, and everyone knows that means a new Blackfish: Canucks Army Prospect Report! So let’s dive in.

  • Brett McKenzie appeared in three contest this past week and ended with four goals and one assist. That includes a two goal appearance and then a two goal and one assist performance. He currently leads the North Bay Battalion in scoring.
  • Carl Neill has seemed to find his stride, appearing in four games this week, posting four assists. I wrote about his possible movement within the QMJHL and ELC with the Canucks earlier this week.
  • Tate Olson appeared in two games for the Prince George Cougars, he posted two assists. P.G. fell to second in CHL power rankings.
  • The suggestion that Guillaume Brisebois will see an increase in his offence because he is on a better team in the Q is holding true thus far. Appearing in three games this past week, Brisebois posted one goal and two assists.
  • Dmitry Zhukenov was assigned back to the CHL right after last week’s report, and appeared in three games for Chicoutimi, posting two assists.
  • Cole Candela appeared in one contest this past week and was held pointless.
  • Olli Juolevi appeared in two contests for London since being assigned back to the OHL. He scored one goal and one assist.
  • Rodrigo Abols continues to remain in limbo – he is no longer listed on the Portland roster (on their site) and there has been no announcement.
  • Jakob Stukel got his first point of the season this past week – he was held pointless in his other contest.

  • Just an FYI – Brock Boeser appears to be pretty good at this hockey thing. He posted six points in two games, as UND swept their weekend series against Cansius. Boeser was named the NCHC offensive player of the week for his efforts.
  • William Lockwood posted one goal and one assist in the two games against Union this past weekend. He showcased what makes him an attractive prospect which is a tireless work ethic, speed to burn and has a knack for creating chances.
  • As the second line centre, Adam Gaudette posted one goal in two games for Northeastern.
