Blackfish: Canucks Army Weekly Prospect Report – February 4, 2016

Feb 4, 2016, 13:00 ESTUpdated:
It’s already February?!
Where did the hockey season go?
The NHL Trade deadline is only a few weeks away, many NCAA tournaments are taking place and teams in the CHL (and around the world) are trying to make a run for the playoffs. It really is the most exciting time of the regular season as there are so many things going on the ice and off it. When it comes to Canucks prospects, there were quite a few players making noise. So let’s break it all down in this week’s edition of Blackfish: Canucks Army Prospect Report.

- Brock Boeser had quite the week. He was named the NCHC rookie of the week for the 4th time this season, and then was named the rookie of the month the next day. He has points in 15 of his last 16 games which includes 3 goals and 1 assist in two games this past weekend. Boeser is approaching some elite company in U. North Dakota history.
- Adam Gaudette played on Monday against Boston University in the Beanpot Semi-finals. He was pointless but had 2 SOG. Northeastern lost 3-1 to BU, thus are will play Harvard on Monday for 3rd place.

- Thatcher Demko posted his 8th shutout of the season this past weekend against Notre Dame. This ties him with Corey Schneider for Boston College’s single season record. - Rodin is still injured.
- Nikita Tryamkin played three games this week. He was thrown out of Monday’s contest early for a check to the head, but returned yesterday. He finished the week with 27 PIMS. Unsurprisingly, the Canucks are reportedly hoping to sign Tryamkin at the end of the KHL season.
- Lukas Jasek played one game this week for Trinec U21 team and then one game for Havirov, which is in the Extraliga 2nd division (WSM Liga). He was held pointless in both leagues. For now, we will just use his U21 Trinec stats in the chart above, as that appears to be where he is spending the most time.

- In case you missed it, here are part 1 and part 2 of my conversations with Hunter Shinkaruk and Brendan Gaunce from earlier this week.
- Shinkaruk participated in the AHL Skills competition and All Star game. Ultimately the North Division didn’t win, but still a great experience for Shinkaruk.
- As you can see above, Jordan Subban is now 2nd in scoring for the Comets.
- Ronalds Kenins returned to action this week.
- Mike Zalewski has done well since his return to Utica – he has 4 goals and one assist since coming back from the Canucks
- Linden Vey and Alex Biega are still up with the Canucks. With Biega signing an extension earlier this week, I would expect his time with the Comets is officially done.

- Ludwig Blomstrand had 1 goal and 2 assists on Friday night. He had 4 SOG and finished -1.
- Curtis Valk had 2 goals and 2 assists in 2 games (all came in the first game on Friday). He finished the week -2 and 4 SOG.
- Anton Cederholm finished the week -2 and with 2 PIM.
- Even McEneny was held pointless in Friday’s contest but put up 2 assists on Sunday.

- Clay Witt played relief duty during Sunday’s contest, he played 6:41 and made one save on one shot.(I did forget to update his stats in a previous week, so that has been done now)
Schedule

As mentioned last week, Anton Rodin has been removed from the schedule, as he will be out long-term. Kyle Pettit was excluded as he is currently ‘week to week’ with an injury. Lukas Jasek is not included, as it’s unclear which league he will be in.
That’s it for this week!
