Welcome back to Betway Bets of the Day brought to you by NHL betting odds site Betway!
On Sunday, the Vancouver Canucks concluded their three game road trip with an impressive 5-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens. With that win, Vancouver amassed a positive record on their stint away from Rogers Arena. Casey DeSmith shined against the team that traded him to the Canucks and improved his record to 4-0-1 on the season.
Next up for the Canucks is a matchup with their former captain Bo Horvat and the New York Islanders. With a win tonight, the Canucks can leapfrog the Vegas Golden Knights as the top team in the Pacific Division and Western Conference. Here are three bets I like for tonight’s game.
Pre-Built Bets
It’s just a simple numbers game. Vancouver is currently third in the NHL on the power-play and the Islanders are currently 25th in the NHL on the penalty-kill. Odds aren’t great, but I like this enough to deploy a full unit on it.
Player Prop
Quinn Hughes to register an assist at -167. My $12.50 bet would return $20.
If you’re a CanucksArmy reader I don’t need to tell you how good Quinn Hughes has been this season. He has registered an assist in six of his last seven games, and is currently tied with teammate Elias Pettersson for the league lead in assists. This is another play I will put the full unit on.
Pre-Built Bets
Canucks to win money-line and Elias Pettersson to register a point at +110. My $10 bet would return $21.
This might be the first time in this series history where we aren’t rolling with a shot prop. I did my research here and there’s no shot trends I really like tonight. What I do like though is the Canucks continuing to roll past an Islanders team that has lost five straight.
Add an Elias Pettersson point as a “juice reducer” and the line on the Canucks’ ML moves from -160 to +110. Pettersson has scored a point in eight of his last ten games. Put .8 units on this play.
Last Game Bets
Sam Reinhart to register over 2.5 shots at -134. My $12.50 bet would return $21.87. – HIT
Fillip Forsberg to register over 3.5 shots at -134. My $12.50 bet would return $22.01. – HIT
Brayden Point to score a power-play point at +130. My $10 bet would return $23. – MISSED
A solid bounce back night for us. We staked $35 and returned $43.88. We are now up $112.77 (9.1 units) on the year.
