Game one went exactly to plan for Canucks fans, as the Florida Panthers took home a wire-to-wire 3-o win against the Edmonton Oilers. Sergei Bobrovsky earned first-star honours, making 32 saves en route to his first-ever shutout in the Stanley Cup finals; Bobrovsky is now the odds-on favourite to win the Conn Smythe trophy.

In the last article, I mentioned looking forward to the matchup between Connor McDavid and Aleksander Barkov. Game one’s advantage went to the Barkov line, as the Panthers captain made a fantastic play on Carter Verhaeghe’s game-winning goal, which was matched up against the McDavid line.

We will run this play back. As I mentioned in the last article, Bouchard has had good output against the Panthers, hitting over 2.5 in all three matchups this season and averaging four shots per game.

Reinhart was hockey’s second-leading marksman in the regular season, scoring a career-high 57 goals; I like him to get one tonight in a pivotal Game Two at home. Reinhart has yet to score against the Oilers in all three matchups this season, but I think tonight is the night that changes.

Florida played their C- game on Saturday night and still managed to get the job done. Florida’s forecheck just seems to be too much for Edmonton’s bottom four defenders and the Barkov line is the perfect matchup for the McDavid line.
