Welcome back to Betway Bets of the Day brought to you by NHL betting odds site Betway!
Elias Pettersson’s second career hat trick led the Canucks to a 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators. Pettersson’s great start to the season earned him the honour of being named the NHL’s second star of the month of October, and he currently sits second in points behind only Jack Hughes with 16 in nine games.
Next up for the Canucks is a matchup with the lowly San Jose Sharks, who are yet to win a game this season. Here are three bets I like for tonight’s game.
Player Prop
The good news is the books are still offering us Hughes’ line at 2.5. The bad news is San Jose gives up so many shots we aren’t getting it at our usual odds. We’re still going to ride with it. Hughes has hit his over 2.5 in seven straight games and has 27 shots in that span, which is an average of 3.9 per game.
This is a full unit play, as San Jose gives up the most shots in the league to defencemen and also the most shots in general.
Player Prop
Andrei Kuzmenko to score anytime at +175. My $10 bet would return $27.50.
After a 39-goal campaign, Kuzmenko has only scored two goals in nine games to start this season. Some can attribute this to regression from a league-high shooting percentage last season, while others attribute it to just a slow start. I believe in the latter. Kuzmenko has started to get back to his usual self, tallying five points in his last five games.
The Sharks may just be what the doctor ordered for the Russian sophomore, as Kuzmenko scored three goals and seven points against the Sharks in just four games last season. We will stake .8 units here for a nice payout.
Pre-Built Bets
Vancouver to win money-line and Elias Pettersson to score a point at -138. My $12.50 bet would return $21.59.
This game does scare me, in years past this game had classic trap game written all over it, this season I think this Canucks game takes care of business. Add in a Pettersson point as a “juice reducer” and you can grab the 6-2-1 Canucks on the money-line against the 0-8-1 Sharks at -138.
Last Game Bets
Quinn Hughes to register over 2.5 shots at -125. My $10 bet would return $18. – HIT
Fillip Forsberg to register over 3.5 shots at -139. My $10 bet would return $17.20. – MISSED
Elias Pettersson to score a power play point at +100. My $10 bet would return $20.- HIT
Hughes and Pettersson has been putting money in our pocket all season long and that didn’t change on Tuesday, we staked $30 and returned $38. We are now up $123.34(9.86 units) on the season.
