WWYDW: White House

Politics dominated the news cycle this week. A number of NFL players and teams following in the footsteps of Colin Kaepernick and electing to kneel during the national anthem to protest state-sanctioned violence against people of color, as well as the disparaging comments President Donald Trump directed towards players who kneel during the anthem. President Trump also rescinded his invitation to the NBA’s Golden State Warriors following criticism from Warriors Point Guard Steph Curry.
The NHL proved it wasn’t immune to the influence of U.S. politics when the Pittsburgh Penguins issued a statement reiterating their intentions to follow through with the customary annual Stanley Cup Champion visit to the White House.
The statement drew backlash as well as praise from a wide variety of commentators. Now it’s time to tell us what you think. If you were the GM of a Stanley Cup-winning team, would you visit the White House? Why or why not? Or perhaps you’d leave it up to the players to decide if they wish to protest individually.
Last week I asked: What does your opening-night roster look like?
nas19ua:
D.Sedin – H.Sedin – Granlund
Baertschi – Horvat – Boeser
Vanek – Sutter – Eriksson
Gagner – Burmistrov – Dorsett
Edler – Stecher
Hutton – Tanev
Del Zotto – Gudbranson
Seems obvious. But I’d better still start Boeser in Utica and keep him away from what’s gonna be another painful season with potential high reward #FallinForDahlin
Personally I’m far more interested how Comets lines will look like. My biggest concern is lack of creative centreman down there with Chaput, Megna and Cassels as potential top three pivots. And log-jam at wings is for real: Comets may have Boeser, Goldobin, Virtanen, Rodin, Boucher, Dahlen down there at the same moment. Maybe MacEwen may add some creativity at centre. And I don’t think that moving Dahlen to centre is a smart move for the future, but who knows.
Betty:
Baertschi-Horvat-Boeser
Sedins – Granlund
Vanek – Sutter – Eriksson
Gagner – Burmistrov – Virtanen
Rodin-Dorsett
Gudbranson and Virtanen can be the policeman for regular games, move in Dorsett for the heavier, potentially rougher games (Jets, Sharks, Ducks etc)
The third and fourth lines have an abundance of scoring talent which helps relieve some of the scoring pressure from Boeser and the Sedins.
Edler-Stecher
Tanev – MDZ
Gudbranson – Hutton

Esa Tikkanen:
As amazing as Boeser has been, I just can’t see putting him on the 1st line as a good thing.
1st line even seems unrealistic for Horvat w/ Baertchi, then add a rookie as supporting cast?
As great as these kids are, and more importantly, as impatient as as Canucks fans are,
Though unpopular, I believe these projected top-6 youth should be supported, and insulated.
The only way I can see Boeser succeeding in a top-6 role is on a line with the Sedins. it would also be good prep for playing w/ Dahlen & Pettersson as a 1st-line in the future.
To me, Eriksson also seems like a more responsible fit with Horvat and Sven
Give these guys some proven pedigree, otherwise SJ, AN, LA, and EDM will monopolize there defensive inexperience.
Not hard to see why Benning and Linden were contemplating E. Kane.
Absolutely crazy that there isn’t a drafted forward on the team between Sedins and Horvat.
Currently, this team looks more like its built to make (middle 6) deadline moves than any projected long-term core/strategy.
Still, hoping Virtanen and Boeser’s pre-season translates to the big stage. They really look like they are ready, and are willing to earn they’re place in the lineup.
TrueBlue:
Zehao Sun starts in goal after amazing play in practice leads to amazing preseason play, in turn landing him an ELC. Markstrom & Nilsson thumb-wrestle to determine who is traded to Calgary to replace Mike Smith.
