A 3-1 win last Saturday in Charlotte was followed by a 4-0 Sunday loss to those same Checkers. Sunday’s loss let Charlotte back on top of the division.

Wednesday was a  very frustrating loss for the Crimson and Gold, as they fired 39 shots in a 3-1 loss to Peoria.

Saturday’s win was paced by goals from Darren Haydar, Byron Bitz and Andrew Gordon‘s game winner. Mike Duco grabbed 3 assists on Saturday, while Haydar added an assist on Bitz’s goal. The powerplay showed a brief sign of life – Haydar and Bitz’s goals both came on the mad advantage.

Eddie Lack made 42 saves on Sunday.

Mark Mancari got the only goal on Wednesday.

The attack continues to struggle, and especially the young kids. Jordan Schroeder, about whom we’d been speaking so positively, has just a goal and 3 assists in his last dozen games.

Steve Reinprecht hasn’t scored a goal since the end of January, a stretch of 16 games. He’s got just 6 assists in that time as well.

The Wolves signed Ridge Meadows native Brad Hunt to an amateur tryout contract on Wednesday. The 24-year-old Hunt, a defenceman, had a stellar college career for Bemidji State, recording 112 points in 150 games over his 4 years in the WCHA. He made his debut in Wednesday night’s game. He took Kevin Connauton‘s spot in the lineup.

Connauton is listed as day-to-day with some sort of minor leg injury. After Wednesday’s game, he was seen in civvies, a bit hobbled, but no crutches or cast. Expect him to sit out this weekend as well.

Tonight’s St Patrick’s Day tilt is away at Lake Erie. After the game, the Wolves cross the border and head up to Toronto to take on the Marlies. They head back to Ohio for another game against Lake Erie on Wednesday.
