Notes

• I don’t know what the CHL’s deal is this week, but it’s totally packed. Several prospects, including Jonah Gadjovich, Brett McKenzie, and Jakob Stukel, play four times this week, while Kole Lind, Cole Candella, and Matthew Brassard all have triple headers from Friday to Sunday.
• The NCAA likes to have its soft starts. After most schools get underway last week with a pair of games, it tapers off this week. Adam Gaudette‘s Northeastern University plays once, while Will Lockwood‘s Michigan University has the whole week off.
• The Kalamazoo Wings have their season opener on Saturday. Only two “prospects” (Mackenze Stewart and Micharl Garteig) are currently assigned there, but there could be more by the weekend. The Comets are currently sitting five players a game, and it’ll be a big surprise if either Yan-Pavel Laplante or Anton Cederholm see action anytime soon.
• Elias Pettersson has missed Vaxjo’s last three games with what is supposed to be a minor injury. I’m not sure if he’ll be back for this week’s games, but let’s hope so. I mean, literally all of our hopes and dreams are resting on his shoulders, so this is kind of a deal.
• The two European prospects awaiting season debuts that I teased in the intro are Olli Juolevi and Jonathan Dahlen, of course. Of the two, Juolevi seems the most likely. He’s already been in Turku for roughly a week and has had some time to practice with his new team. Jonathan Dahlen, meanwhile, is still up in the air. It hasn’t even been confirmed what team he’ll be on, although I scheduled him with Linkoping here because that’s what the latest information is suggesting. When we find out for sure, I’ll update the schedule. In any case, I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t play this week anyway, what with the travel overseas combined with the recent bout of mono. As mentioned, I’ve updated this chart and post to reflect Dahlen’s new schedule, since he has officially signed with Timra IK of the Allsvenskan, the second tier Swedish league team that he played for in the past couple of seasons.
• Champion’s League play is back again, on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. I noted those particular games in orange so they don’t get confused with regular season games. Three of the Canucks prospect connected teams have already punched their tickets to the next round – TPS Turku is the only team of our concern that has yet to do so.
• I still haven’t found Jack Rathbone, and I haven’t heard back from anyone who might actually know. It doesn’t appear that he’s joining the USHL Youngstown Phantoms for the start of their season though. They a pair of games last weekend and Rathbone was not involved. He’s probably just going to school, and training, and doing normal person stuff I guess.
