Weekend Headshots is a lot like our usual Headshots posts, except it happens on a Sunday.
This is the CanucksArmy feature where we round up the weekends freshest Canucks news including funny gifs, awesome videos, cool photos and interesting links. If you’ve written a Canucks blog-post and want it to be featured here, e-mail me at thom.drance@gmail.com.
Here’s a touching story about former Canucks first-liner Geoff Courtnall and his charity golf tournament in Victoria that raises money in honour of Geoff and Russ’ deceased father. The piece touches on Geoff losing his father to depression and suicide, and grappling with his own mental health issues later in life. The proceeds from the tournament go towards a mental health fundraising effort connected to the Victoria Hospital Foundation and has been a major success. Good stuff from the Courtnall brothers.
From Gigapixel.com – an intense, detailed, interactive photo of Georgia and Hamilton at the beginning of game 7 (before the riot). I believe the idea is to zoom in, and tag yourself. Anyways, it’s fun to look over despite the sad direction this particular celebration went in following the game 7 loss.
One of my favorite hockey bloggers, and all around gentleman Scott Reynolds, has a must-read take on the Canucks in Free Agency over at Copper and Blue. Possibly the most thorough, detailed run-down of Gillis’ performance in retaining players, and bringing in free-agents that I’ve read this summer. His conclusion: "The Canucks should probably be favored to win the Western Conference." Go check it out.
Danish website "SportenKort" has a profile of Nicklas Jensen. You can see the original article here, and check out the link to the google translation of the piece here. On countryman Jannik Hansen, Jensen had this to say "I do not know Jannik as well as the other Danes in the NHL, but he seems like a very nice guy and I look forward to seeing him."
And finally our good friends over at PiTB have the "every goal x Canucks scored series" for Alex Burrows posted over at their website. If you like even-strength goals with the average shot distance of 12 feet – go give it a watch.
