Welcome back to WWYDW, the only hockey column on the internet to officially never give up on the Canucks’ playoff hopes.
Speaking of the 2021/22 playoffs, they’re nearly upon us. As you read these words, chances are good that the Canucks have yet to secure their postseason spot, nor have they knocked themselves out of contention, either.
Yes, the 2021/22 regular season is going to come down to the wire. But while we’re all caught up in fretting about its conclusion, its also a good time to look back on the year that’s been so far. And, what better way to reflect then to go over all the mistakes and miscalculations we made, and declare them publicly for all the world to see?
We all had predictions heading into 2021/22, and if anyone says that they foresaw the season playing out exactly as it has, they’re a liar. Whether Vancouver makes the playoffs in the end or not, the 2021/22 season was an unpredictable one, full of ups-and-downs and twists and turns.
Everyone got surprised somewhere along the way.
This week, we’re asking you to look back and tell us:

What were you wrong about in 2021/22 (as it pertains to the Vancouver Canucks)?

Let it be known in the comment section.
Last week, we asked:

What is one thing you’d like to see happen before the 2021/22 regular season concludes?

You answered below!
Kootenaydude:
I would like to see Vegas miss the playoffs.
Kanucked:
Both Pettersson and Miller join Horvat in the 30-goal club.
Kanuckhotep:
For the fanbase to look positively to the future and forget Benning and Green. They’re history, and any debacles left behind by their tenures, you must let the new braintrust sort out. That’s why they’re getting the big bucks and not us armchair GMs.
J-Canuck:
The Stars lose. A LOT.
Rob:
LA Kings go into a freefall without Doughty and the Cap Cheaters miss the playoffs. Wait a second… That means we probably make and get a first round series against the Oilers! Yup, I’d like to see that.
Holly Wood:
Sign Bruce Boudreau to an extension. He has created a lot of momentum in his short time here.
Far North:
Vegas misses the playoffs.
Calgary, Toronto, and Edmonton getting tossed in the first round (like always).
LiborPolasek:
The Canucks clinch or improve their lottery chances – by a few spots.
Atlas:
I’d like to see this team bottle up whatever motivation they’re using at this stage in the season, and apply it to next season.
No more of this, “We’ll get our act together when it’s too late.”
TheRealRusty:
Gary “Napoleon” Bettman stepping down (or forcefully removed) from his position as League Commissioner and someone that actually cares about the game named to replace him.
A River Named Curt:
(Winner of the author’s weekly award for eloquence)
I’d like to see Hughes break both Lidster’s and Kearns’ records for points and assists, respectively, by a Canuck defenceman.
canuckfan:
Like to see the Canucks pass Nashville, Dallas, LA, and Vegas, which would mean they made the playoffs, and all the injured players return for the first round, as it will be tough. But we have Demko, the secret weapon to winning a series or two.
BoHo:
Playoffs…and Pettersson ends up with a point-per-game.
