Vancouver Canucks Sign Borna Rendulic

Not long after the Vancouver Canucks announced they’d signed Jayson Megna, they locked up Croatian-born winger, Borna Rendulic. The Canucks haven’t released the terms of Rendulic’s contract, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not all that dissimilar to the ones they signed Megna and Michael Chaput to earlier in the proceedings.
Rendulic, 27, was never drafted and only joined the NHL when the Colorado Avalanche signed him to an entry-level contract in advance of his age 22 season. To that point, Rendulic had played in Croatian junior and men’s leagues, before graduating to the Finnish system and splitting time between their junior and men’s leagues.
In 3 games with the Avalanche last season, Rendulic was held pointless and carried a significantly negative 47% Corsi For. In fairness to Rendulic, though, the Avalanche fared much better with him in their lineup, as his 5.2% rel. Corsi can attest. Rendulic has played 14 NHL games over the course of two seasons and has one goal and one assist to his credit.
Like Chaput and Megna before him, you can expect Rendulic to play a starring role with the Canucks farm club, the Utica Comets. Rendulic plays a strong two-way game and brings size to the Canucks organization, standing at 6’3″.
