Vancouver Canucks Donate 1,000 Tickets to Abbotsford Senior Secondary

7 years agoAccording to a Glocal News Vancouver report, the Vancouver Canucks are donating 1,000 tickets to Abbotsford Senior Secondary School.
The move comes a week after a double-stabbing at Abbotsford Senior which left one student dead and another injured. The Canucks were in the midst of a six-game eastern swing at the time. Sunday’s game against the Dallas Stars marks the first opportunity to invite the grieving students, and to the Canucks’ credit, they used it accordingly.

The tickets will go to students and their families, staff, and teachers at the school, according to a source with the team.Students returned to class on Monday, just days after 13-year-old Letisha Reimer was killed when a random assailant entered the school with a knife. Another student, who cannot be named due to a publication ban, was also stabbed but survived.
A friendly tip of the hat to the Canucks. Such a move stands as a reminder to all of their place within the community, outside of their obligations as a business. Sports are supposed to be about fun. Sometimes they can provide more than that to a community, though. This time we were lucky enough to witness it firsthand in our very own.
