The Vancouver Canucks have let go of two members of their media relations department.
“As many of you know, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on our business and many of the great people who work here at Canucks Sports & Entertainment,” said the Canucks’ Director of Communications, Ben Brown, in an email that went out to media earlier this morning. “Unfortunately, we’ll say goodbye this Friday to two amazing, talented people: Stephanie Maniago and Victoria Ullrich.”
“Stephanie has been a significant contributor to the success of the hockey team and business in over 15 years at CSE.  She became the first female PR Manager of a Canadian NHL team and led our student associate program, mentoring so many as they embarked on careers of their own. Selfless and with a great sense of humour, Steph demonstrated time and again a willingness to tackle anything with dedication, thoughtfulness, and leadership.”
“Victoria joined our team not long ago but in short order made a tremendous impact. If you have had the pleasure of working with her you know why. Victoria’s unwavering, optimistic approach to every project, deadline or challenge is infectious. Victoria played a lead role in the writing and production of media content and recently became a ‘zoom guru’ hosting countless media availabilities and interviews over the past seven months. She often says she’s “living the dream” but in fact we’re the fortunate ones, incredibly grateful to know and work with Victoria.”
Both Stephanie and Victoria were always extremely pleasant to deal with, and in July, worked diligently to make sure training camp operated in a manner to keep all media members safe and comfortable during these truly unprecedented times.
Canucks Sports & Entertainment have had to make many cuts to people on the business side so far, and as Patrick Johnston of The Province points out, that number is likely to grow:
They will both be missed and we wish them all the best in their next chapters!
