By now, you likely know that the Vancouver Canucks have freed the skate and will be wearing their black skate jerseys as the third jersey this season.
On Thursday morning, the team announced the dates in which they will be wearing their third jerseys through a tweet.
We will see the black skate 10 more times this season.
The Canucks will wear their third jersey for the next five home games, resulting in six consecutive home games where they are wearing the black skate.
It’s clear that the organization is attempting to bring back the skate with a bang and showcase the new design as much as possible. There are no scheduled dates for the Canucks to wear their third jerseys on the road but with historic teams like the Maple Leafs, Bruins, and Red Wings as the opposition on nights where the Canucks will wear their black skate jerseys — it would be a lot fo fun to see some of the other teams rock their third jerseys and make it a fun night for the jersey buffs out there.
We have seen the team store be taken over by the black skate and you are seeing new merch pop up all over with a hard press being put on the new design.
It’s nice to have the jersey back but some fans believe that it shouldn’t be a jersey that is worn so often while others will argue that it should be the full-time jersey and colour scheme for the Canucks. Perhaps we get there when this team commits to a rebranding — and if you’ve been following this team for a long time, rebrandings of the organization is certainly not a new concept.
Give us your thoughts, the Canucks will wear the black skate in 11 of their final 22 home games of the season.
Is this too often, not enough, or is this the perfect amount? Let us know in the comments section below!
