What To Watch For
> The 10 Million Dollar Man: Did you know Luongo is the highest paid player (re: not cap hit, just base salary) this season in the NHL? Six goals on 18 shots (3 PPG) isn’t exactly what we had in mind, but every goalie vomits one up here and there and the Wild have had his number for years. So too, seemingly, have the Blackhawks. If Luongo is looking for a bit of redemption, the United Center tonight is where to start.
> Infirmary Update: Hamhuis will be another gametime decision. Without him, Ryan Parent will get the nod again. His first game was largely forgettable, but despite the -2, 16:28 TOI and 1 SOG, he did OK up against the tougher opposition. On the Hawks end they should get Stalberg back but Hendry may not play, meaning the second and third D pairings are Hjalmarsson/Cullimore and Boynton/Scott. If the Sedins or Kesler can get going against these pairings, good things should happen.
> Wherefore art thou secondary scoring?: Daniel Sedin has scored 43% of Vancouver’s goals so far. Henrik Sedin has assisted on 64% of Vancouver’s goals so far. See where I’m going with this? Memo to everyone not named Sedin – At the risk of sounding like that jerk behind you at every game you attend: SHOOT.
I did all of that and didn’t mention Rypien…ah damn it.
