The Canucks appear to be down a man for the foreseeable future as forward Sven Baertschi did not make the trip to Philadelphia
It was later reported that Baertschi did not make the trip to Philadelphia yesterday and once again woke today not feeling well and thus may return to Vancouver instead.
The Canucks are being a bit vague about what the exact issue with the Swiss forward is but appear to want to make it clear that it is not concussion related. In that sense, it’s encouraging to hear that he is not suffering any lingering effects from the injury suffered earlier in the sense but it does leave you wondering what is the issue.
All that matters at this point is that Baertschi recovers from whatever is ailing him and can get everything sorted.
Tim Schaller will be taking Baertschi’s spot in the lineup today against Philadelphia and then the Canucks may adjust from there. If Baertschi is out for a while, then maybe the Canucks summon a more offensively inclined player like Zack MacEwen or Jonathan Dahlen from Utica to help bring some scoring to the lineup.
Baertschi has eight goals and five assists in 22 games this season.
