Mid-Day Head-shots is a CanucksArmy feature where we round up today’s freshest Canucks news including funny gifs, awesome videos, cool photos and interesting links. If you’ve written a Canucks blog-post and want it to be featured here, e-mail me at thom.drance@gmail.com.
The trusty fellows at PassittoBulis (the only other Canucks blog churning out regular content in these dog-days of summer) have a good take on how Gillis may be done for the summer. They compare waiting for the Canucks to make a major move like bringing in a power-forward, or an Ehrhoff replacement, to "Waiting for Godot." For those of us who aren’t interested in literature or drama, they mean it probably won’t happen. Excited to see Tanev on the first pairing? Actually I am.
Those grand-masters of jack-assery known as Pension Plan Puppets paid to sponsor Ryan Kesler’s hockeyreference.com page. Here’s what they wrote "Drafted by Brian Burke, developed by Dave Nonis, outplayed for the Selke by Pavel Datsyuk, owned by Patrick Sharp in the playoffs, dives, smells bad, and got beat up by a hobbit." So in summary – Burke and Nonis are entirely responsible for Kesler being a crappy hockey player. Also, Bilbo > Kesler.
From an Ornskoldsvik daily known as allehande.se – there is a post tagged "silly season" that suggests the Sedins may go play for local Elitserien team Modo – where Naslund and Forsberg played in 09-10 – after they finish their current contracts. Here’s the original post, and here’s the clumsy google translation.
According to total ass-hat Dan Tencer, CBS TV while at the Canadian open, set up their wireless network and protected it with the WIP password "BRUINSWONTHECUP." Way to stick it to the city CBS TV! Inspired by this bit of cleverness, Dan Tencer’s "no girls allowed club" changed their entry password to "RIOTCHELSEADAGGERSSEDINSISTERS".
Bored at work? How about a Canucks logo colouring-book page? Now you’re good to go!
And finally the NHL Network in the US is replaying the entirety of the Blackhawks-Canucks series from this past seasons playoffs. Spoiler alert, this is how it ends (couldn’t resist, it’s all I’ve got):
