In the least bit surprising news of the day, Michael DiPietro has been named to Team Canada’s WJHC Evaluation Camp roster
DiPietro will be battling Ian Scott and Matthew Villalta for the two goaltending spots on the roster but is likely a shoe-in to get one of those. Many are expecting the Canucks prospect to be the starter once the tournament gets going but Scott has been playing exceptionally well all season and could very well give DiPietro a run for his money. If you haven’t already done so, I would recommend checking out the story from Jacob Stoller here on CanucksArmy about DiPietro.
DiPietro is 11-8-1-1 with 2.32 GAA, 0.920 SV% and 1 S/O this season.
Jett Woo was a possibility to be invited to the camp after a strong showing at the Summer Showcase and his play recently but the right side is so loaded, it’s not shocking that he didn’t get the final invite.
The evaluation camp runs from December 11th-14th in Victoria B.C. and will feature games against the U-Sports All-Star teams on the final three days. Following that, there will be some pre-tournament exhibition games throughout the B.C. from December 18th-23rd and the tournament kicks off on Boxing Day.
The full roster for Team Canada can be found here.
