Key dates on the Canucks’ 2019-20 schedule

The Canucks have announced their 50th anniversary 2019-20 season schedule. The team has planned a season-long celebration to honour five decades of Canucks hockey.
The Canucks open the season on the road October 3rd vs. the Oilers. Their final game before the All-Star break is January 18th against the Sharks. The Canucks close out the season on home ice against the Golden Knights on April 4th.
Vancouver’s longest home stand will be six games from February 8th to 22nd at Rogers Arena.They will go on 13 road trips this season, with six away games being the longest trip, occurring from November 19th to 30th.
The schedule appears to be a significant improvement over last season in terms of facing rested teams.

Here are some of the key dates on the calendar:

Home Opener – Wed. October 9, 2019 vs. LA

The Canucks home opener is against the Kings on October 9th — the anniversary date and first Canucks opponent from their debut season in 1970-71.

The Hughes showdown – Sat. October 19th, 2019 @ New Jersey

Brothers Quinn and Jack Hughes are set to faceoff for the first time in their NHL careers.

Diwali Celebration – Fri. October 25, 2019 vs. Washington

The Canucks will celebrate the festival of lights when they host the Capitals on October 25th.

Era Series: 1970’s – Tues. November 5th, 2019 vs. St. Louis

November begins an Era Series that acknowledge the decades in Canucks history. The greats of the inaugural decade of Canucks hockey will be honoured with a 1970’s celebration during a game vs. the Blues.

Alex Burrows night:  Tuesday December 3rd, 2019 vs. Ottawa

The Dragon Slayer will be inducted into the Canucks Ring of Honour.

Era Series: 1980’s – Sat. December 7th, 2019 vs. Buffalo

The Canucks will host a 1980’s Night celebration on December 7th vs. the Sabres where memories of the white towel and the Canucks first march to the Stanley Cup Final will be remembered throughout the night.

Era Series 1990’s — Sat. January 4th, 2020 vs. Rangers

The Canucks will celebrate all things 1990’s on January 4th vs the Rangers, including the Black Skate jersey.

Sedin Celebration Week – February, 2020

February 10th, 2020 vs. the Predators — The Canucks will begin the week by celebrating the careers of the four legends who have their numbers already hanging in the rafters: Stan Smyl, Trevor Linden, Markus Naslund and Pavel Bure.
February 12th, 2019 vs. the Blackhawks — The first Sedin celebration game. It will highlight the twins’ on-ice excellence and include an historic pregame ceremony that will see No. 22 and No. 33 raised to the rafters.
February 16th, 2020 vs. the Ducks — The Canucks will play a family-focused weekend matinee game recognizing the Sedins’ off-ice contributions to the community and the province of BC.

Era Series 2000’s: Fri. March 6th, 2020 vs. Avalanche

The Canucks will celebrate the exciting 2000’s era on March 6th vs. the Avalanche. There will be memories throughout the night of the West Coast Express, Roberto Luongo, and the Dragon Slayer among others.

Home Finale – Sat. April 4th, 2020 vs. Vegas

The Canucks conclude their regular season on home ice against the Golden Knights. It will be a special Fan Appreciation night.
The Canucks also revealed that a special date for the Alex Burrows Ring of Honour induction will be announced in the near future when the AHL’s schedule is complete. We’ll update this post once we have that information.
