Welcome back to Instant Reaction — the series at CanucksArmy where we give our instant reaction to the game and ask our readers to give theirs in the comments section below! The Stanchies by Wyatt Arndt will be posted later tonight. The Statsies — CanucksArmy’s analytics-based post game report — will be posted tomorrow morning.
Well, the Canucks have lost two straight at home by a score of 5-1.
After some strong, dare we say hope-inducing wins on the road, the rollercoaster of a season continues.
The Canucks came out flat-footed in this one and were bested all night by a superior team. There’s not much more to it, no matter what Wyatt tells you in the 4000+ words he’s probably going to log in The Stanchies tonight.
“How we can play so good one week and so bad another week is mind-boggling,” said head coach Bruce Boudreau post game. “I would have put us up against anybody after the Colorado and Vegas games.”
It was the team’s fourth game in six nights, and they certainly made it look like it.
The big story of the night, however, was goaltender Thatcher Demko going down with an injury that certainly didn’t look good.
Demko’s reaction and inability to put any weight on his right leg suggest that this injury likely won’t be short-term.
So with that, let’s go over the Canucks’ two goaltending call-up options in Abbotsford.
Collin Delia has an .884 save percentage through eight AHL games so far this season with the Abbotsford Canucks. Arturs Silovs has an identical save percentage as Delia, only Silovs has played 11 games.
Either would be a fine call-up for the Canucks, who have just one set of back-to-back games in the month of December.
We’ll soon find out how long Demko will be out for, but the injury tonight obviously didn’t look good.
The Canucks play next on Saturday night when Troy Stecher and the Arizona Coyotes will be in town.
But before that, we want to hear your thoughts on this game! Sound off in the comments section below!
But first…
