On yesterday’s episode of Canucks Conversation, David Quadrelli and Harman Dayal examined all the trades Canucks’ GM Patrik Allvin and President Jim Rutherford have made so far in their tenure with the team. Allvin was named GM on January 26, 2022, and immediately went to work with Rutheford, shaping the team to their liking.
After a brief preview of the Cancks’ matchup vs. Vegas, the guys are then joined by Abbotsford Canucks forward Aidan McDonough, who has 5 points through his first 11 AHL games.
Quads: “What has the adjustment been like to the everyday grind in professional hockey compared to your experience in the NCAA?”
“You have to prepare your body a lot better,” Aidan replied. “I’m new and improving myself every day; I can’t afford to have a day where I don’t have my foot on the gas pedal and go through the motions. It’s about being a pro every single day and making sure you take care of that time away from the rink.”
Harman: “Which of your teammates in Abbotsford are you most confident will develop into a successful NHLer?”
“That’s a tough question, there’s a lot of players,” Aidan answered. “Offensively, I’d have to go with Bainsy. He obviously came in as a skill player and he has that part of his game, but I think what’s really underrated is how hard he plays. He’s really good at a lot of little details… He could go up to Vancouver and play in any situation and do a sufficient job for sure.”
The guys wrapped up their time with Aidan and moved onto their trade rank segment, where they tried to determine this regime’s overall trading record (W-L-T)
