Three Canucks prospects (Alex Grenier, Ludwig Blomstrand, and Henrik Tommernes) are set to compete in the biggest ice hockey tournament in Europe, with the winner getting to raise the European Trophy. Some former Canucks are also taking part in the tournament. Seeing some of those particular names really took me for a ride down memory lane.

Yesterday, we mentioned just how thrilled we were to have Jason Botchford back in action, doing Botchfordian things. He got back in the saddle rather quickly, writing about the steps Eddie Lack is taking to give himself the best chance at being Cory Schneider’s backup (should the opportunity arise). Obviously Botch missed the memo that I have monopolized all of the Eddie Lack stories in this town. I’m so happy to see him back, though, that I’m willing to give him a free pass on this one.

Speaking of the Canucks goaltenders, and Botch – here’s an interesting take on how Roberto Luongo has changed up his regular routine, by coming to Vancouver earlier than usual. Take it for what it is. For me, it elicited an eyebrow raise.

GIF BREAK! In the past couple of seasons, we have seen Alex Burrows score some "clutch" goals. What makes them even better are his fantastic celebrations.  Two of the more memorable ones were of the ‘snapping the stick’ variety. Which got me thinking – who’s to say he won’t resolve the lockout, and provide us with another spectacular celebration? (Via GreatSaveBySchneider):

                

Were you still wondering why Kurt Overhardt (Ryan Kesler’s agent) was so quick, and adament in refuting Mike Gillis’ comments about Ryan Kesler’s health? He was just doing his job. As Harrison Mooney of that little blog known as Pass it to Bulis points out, by doing so he earns Kesler two months worth of salary (should a lockout take place). 

Continuing with his ’15 Days of NHL Lockout Preparation’ series, JBowman remembers that there’s a league called the NFL starting up these days. Not a bad way to redirect your attention from the impending NHL lockout, I must say.

Finally, Shane Doan did an interview with XTRA Sports 910 today. He essentially told us absolutely nothing that we didn’t already know, but on September 6th, when there’s no hockey in sight, I guess that classifies as news.
