The Canucks didn’t skate at UBC today. Kevin Bieksa went fishing instead.

Plenty of noise being made about the Canucks bringing back Dan Cloutier. Much of the reaction seems to centre around how Clouts made sure, personally, to injure the egos of Canucks fans by being not good enough. Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating there, but it’s safe to say that he was the 2nd most controversial Canuck of the WCE era. Even if he didn’t lead the team to glory, and broke our hearts more than once, blogger Simon Wilson doesn’t think that should mean the Canucks shouldn’t find out if he could be a good coach.

Mr. Canuck-who-never-really-was Steve Reinprecht is off to Germany.

When I was a kid (yes, the late 80s and early 90s were so long ago), there were hockey cards. And then there was my Panini sticker books. Hockey ’88, with THREE images of Mario Lemieux on the cover was probably my favourite book of all time, until I was, I dunno, ten.

Actually, I was pretty partial to Grant Fuhr’s mask on the cover of Hockey ’87 too.

Either way, hockey stickers were the hype.

Finally, Bob McKenzie updates us on Frank Corrado’s training camp status should the lockout end. Mr. "don’t call me Frank" Corrado is on a particular list of drafted CHL Junior players who the Canucks will be permitted to recall to tryout for the team should the lockout come to an abrupt end on, say, Friday. Corrado is the only guy on the Canucks’ list, which, strikes me as a bit odd. I’d have thought the Canucks would have wanted Brendan Gaunce to at least experience an NHL training camp and preseason.
