Daniel Wagner recaps the two Chicago Wolves games that transpired this weekend. You’re not crazy – it has in fact been a while since the games were actually played, once again reinforcing the well-known fact that the Canucks Army is your one stop shop for instant Wolves discussion. 

Wagner points out that "it’s the closest thing we’re going to get to Canucks hockey for quite some time." Yet given today’s events, that may not necessarily be true. The NHL issued a new proposal to the players today, with the main points being a 50-50 split in hockey-related revenue, and the preservation of an 82-game season. A condensed schedule would not be good news for the Canucks, but hey, it’s hard to be too upset with the talks moving in a positive direction. 

As for Gary, he has plenty of reason to smile right now. Yesterday, Deadspin broke the the story regarding the hilarity that is known as the NHL’s ‘focus group’. Jokes regarding the slogan of ‘Shared Sacrifice’ were running rampant on Twitter yesterday, and I recommend searching it up. After today’s news though, Bettman is back in the driver’s seat. He has submitted a well-crafted proposal that the NHLPA will decline, making them look like the bad guys who don’t want the season to start.

Image Break! There was another reference to the Canucks on last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother, involving the stunning Colbie Smulders. It certainly isn’t the first time, and likely won’t be the last time (depending on how long the show is allowed to continue running). The show is nowhere close to what it was during its heyday, but still, I find myself tuning in so I can hang with ‘the gang’ for somewhere in the ballpark of 22 minutes.

Elliott Pap talks to Cory Schneider about the NHL’s new offer. Remember, Schneider is the Canucks’ player rep. Maybe that explains why he has been left in the dust in the twitter war between Eddie Lack and Roberto Luongo.

The fall has been rough thus far for Canucks fans. We have had to settle for fake playstation games, and game previews that discuss what we can do with our nights rather than watching the games. But this week is a saving grace of sorts for hockey in Vancouver. If you’re looking for some hockey to watch live, there’s plenty to choose from – Bieksa’s Buddies on Wednesday, the Chicago Wolves invading Abbotsford on Friday and Saturday, and the Vancouver Giants hosting the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday night.
