42 years ago last night, the Canucks played their first-ever game, taking on the Kings at the Pacific Coliseum. It would be seven years before Tom Larscheid’s career as a Canucks broadcaster began, and what an odd start it was. Nervous as heck, the former football player credited long-time Canadiens tough guy John Ferguson as being a five-time Grey Cup winner. The North Shore News tells the story.

Prospect Darren Archibald is off to Kalamazoo. He spent a good portion of the season with the Michigan-based ECHL club; to start the season he will be joined by four other prospects: Prab Rai, Adam Polasek, Steven Anthony and Joe Cannata. Here’s the prospect profile I wrote about him in August; my colleagues and I here at Canucks Army, we rated him as the 19th-best prospect in the organization.

Locked-out Blackhawks are raiding the depths of the Canucks organization to run their practices. It helps that Kenny McCudden, skills and skating coach for the Wolves isn’t actually a Canucks employee. He works for the Wolves. See, no conflict there. Players got to skate, you know.

Even in his other life, Cam Charron is still a blogger. He got invited to draft the Vancouver team that would participate in a hypothetical 12-team NHL, as conceived by James Mirtle and Eric Duhatshek of The Globe and Mail. Did he take favourite son (yes, Cam is young enough to be his brother) Chris Tanev?
