The Vancouver Canucks today launched "This Is Our Home" – a multimedia campaign showcasing former and current players, asking fans to cheer responsibly. A great initiative to be sure, given the events that unfolded downtown during last year’s Stanley Cup Final.

But as our friends at Pass it To Bulis point out, this campaign really should be called ""FFS we shouldn’t have to tell you not to riot!". As they say in their post, "the This is our Home campaign, like the season-long Heart of a Canuck campaign, is a thoroughly unsubtle attempt to remind fans that rioting is for jackasses".

Of course, this whole initiative reminds us that Vancouverites can’t have nice things and that we don’t deserve them. City Council has taken the approach of dismantling any notion of available, centralized fan zones during the playoffs and instead suggests that the city promote smaller block-party-style gatherings. News item from yesterday: Manny Malhotra was selected by the Vancouver chapter of the PHWA as the team’s nominee for the Masterton trophy. Man, it’s been a tough year for Mason Raymond. He comes back to play hockey at the highest level on the planet after suffering a BROKEN BACK and he’s STILL not deemed the most worthy candidate on his OWN TEAM for perserverance and dedication to hockey.

And finally, our new friends at Smug Nation discuss the Canucks penchant for NOT blocking shots.  As one would might, they break it down like a fraction, but leaves Mark Ruffalo looking perpetually confused. You’ll have to read to find out why.
