Luongo back in his Panthers days
The Vancouver Canucks roll on to their next stop in southern Florida, as they take on the Florida Panthers tonight. Tonight’s matchup is game #6 on their epic 14-game roadtrip, and sees them at 2-3-0 so far. The Panthers, however, may be the tonic that the Canucks need to get them back to .500 on this trip.
The Panthers are injured and struggling right now, specifically when trying to find the back of the net. Florida is 3-6-1 in their last 10 games, they’ve lost 4 in a row, and have failed to score more than 2 goals in their last 11 games.
The Canucks have their own scoring slump on their hands as well. The top line has not been producing on this road trip so far and it’s starting to be noticed. In the last three games of the first half of the road trip, the Canucks need Sedins and Burrows to start producing again, if they want to salvage a decent record. To me 4-3-1 would be a decent record for now, which means they have to go 2-0-1 in these last three games to do that. They can’t get 5 out of 6 points if the top line isn’t on its game.
Roberto Luongo returns to southern Florida to take on his old club, as well. Look for Luongo to have a great game in front of friends and family.
That’s all I have for today. Olympic fever has swelled here in Vancouver, and the Canucks are definitely NOT top of mind in this town right now. Starting tomorrow, it’s all about Team Canada. Until then, let’s hope the Canucks do us proud tonight.
