Dallas/Vancouver Scoring Chances (Game 20732)

Yankee Canuck
Like a bat out of hell, the Canucks ran all over the Stars earlier this week, tuning them to the sweet delight of a 7-1 score. Alex Burrows, Mikael Samuelsson, Mason Raymond and Dan Hamhuis all dropped scoring-drought monkeys off their backs and helped chase Lehtonen in a PIM-filled contest.
All things considered, you’d think the Canucks would be rather dominant in respect to their scoring chances in such a game right? Think again.

> Vancouver junked four ES markers and yet their top forwards got largely out-chanced. The Sedins/Burrows added two goals yet were out-chanced (Burrows played the fewest minutes too thanks to a game misconduct in the third). Kesler’s line added two goals and they barely outworked the opposition. The defense chipped in two PPGs and helped offset some forward struggles as seen above.
> You don’t see these types of scores get underminded by scoring chances very often. On the one hand, the normal game recap tell a story about one Western Conference power crushing the other, but the scoring chances suggest the chasm between both teams wasn’t that stark. Luongo was on, Lehtonen was not and Thomas Gradin delivered some mad puck luck for his alma mater.
But, hey, a win is a win.
