The Canucks announced today that Michael Chaput and Cole Cassels have been assigned to the Utica Comets.
Chaput has been in popcorn alley since the preseason when he was placed on waivers, never drawing back into the lineup since then. Chaput will now head down to Utica and log some playing time, furthering his development more than sitting in the press box ever could. Last year with the Canucks he drew into 68 games with 12 points and a -12 throughout the 2016-17 season.
Cole Cassels was on the IR with an undisclosed illness and was just awaiting a clean bill of health to before being reassigned to the AHL. Last season, Cassels played 66 games with Utica netting 11 points (6G, 5A) in his time on the farm.
Looking ahead, the Canucks have the weekend off before welcoming the Dallas Stars on Monday night when they aim to extend their winning streak to five games.
