There really isn’t much to go with these scrimmages. We hear about them, we see highlights but it’s like Eyes Wide Shut: everyone is wearing a mask and we can’t get into the room to see the good stuff.
Maybe Stanley Kubrick was a Canucks fan?
No one really knows who the next potty mouth Canuck will be but my prediction is Jacob Markstrom goes unmuffled and we hear some frustration on a defensive breakdown. I love predictions.
Today could be the final scrimmage prior to the team heading out to the “glorious” city of Edmonton for the exhibition game and eventually the play-ins. Listen close, it’s the last hockey for a week.

It’s unlikely these lines stick but with a Blue vs. White showdown, there may be more to the extras than we know. Where does Kole Lind factor? Is Zack MacEwen really going to play with Bo Horvat, and why does Adam Gaudette get both Tyler Toffoli AND J.T. Miller on a line?
All these questions will be gloriously answered in today’s scrimmage.
The power play will be the focus today. That’s the key to winning the playoffs.
SCRIMMAGE NOTES
- Tyler Motte has a nose for the net (mostly his entire body in them) but he is grinding his way into a solid role on this team. The stars need to do their thing but they don’t get to shine unless the workhorses do their thing too!
- The dress code was a thing yesterday and no one brought up how creepy trenchcoats would be the key to victory. Why not dress like Columbo on the beat and then shock the world with their electric play? That or yellow suits like Dick Tracy. I’m ok with both.
- Brock Boeser changed the flex on his stick to the one Auston Matthews uses. His snip-ability has since improved. We reached out to Carey Price and Henrik Lundqvist for comment but they did not return our calls.
- Tyler Myers stuck Bo Horvat in practice yesterday and Bo didn’t ream him out like he did Jake Virtanen. We’d call it a high stick but Myers is just tall, so he stuck him.
- WEAR A MASK!!!!! DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT LOCKDOWN FELT LIKE???

Everything is saying that Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson are going to explode in the play-in series. From bar-downs to pissed off Brock, the stars are going to be the stars which doesn’t always happen in a playoff series. Today’s scrimmage is going to reveal something and hopefully, it’s Micheal Ferland.
