The countdown is on to Roberto Luongo being added to the Vancouver Canucks Ring of Honour on December 14th. And to mark the occasion, I want to find a new home for an autographed Roberto Luongo practice-used Reebok Pro goalie stick stamped with his name on the shaft.
A quick back story: I took my son to a Canucks practice on his seventh birthday. He was offered Luongo’s stick and a chance to meet the Canucks’ star netminder. My son has grown up and the stick now sits in storage. My son has agreed that there has to be a better place for it than under the stairs in our house. And this is where you come in. Are you a collector? Do you have an office, a family room or a man cave that could use a Roberto Luongo stick? Are you looking for a truly unique Christmas gift for a special hockey fan? We are going to auction the stick off to the highest bidder with all money donated directly to the Canucks For Kids fund. Whether it’s $5, $50 or $500, we want to use this occasion to find the stick a new home and to raise some money for charity in the process.
If you want this stick, please submit your best bid and include your first and last name along with a phone number where the winning bid can be verified. Anonymous and incomplete bids will not be considered. All bids will be made in Canadian dollars and shall be in whole dollar amounts only. Periodic updates will be provided in case you wish to raise your initial offer. In the event of a tie, the earliest of the bids shall be declared the winner.
The auction is underway now and will remain open until 11:59 pm Pacific standard time on Wednesday, December 13th. The winning bid will be revealed on Thursday, December 14th, the day Luongo will be added to the ring at Rogers Arena prior to that night’s game between the Vancouver Canucks and Florida Panthers.
The winning bidder must be prepared to pick up the stick in person from the Canucks Army headquarters in the Sheraton Wall Centre in downtown Vancouver or pay for shipping.
In the spirit of the season and to recognize all that Roberto Luongo accomplished in his time with the Canucks, let’s have some fun, raise some money for charity and find this stick a new home.
