Canucks trade Alexandre Burrows to Ottawa for Jonathan Dahlen

The Vancouver Canucks have traded forward Alexandre Burrows to the Ottawa Senators.
At first glance, Ottawa seems like an odd choice for Burrows to waive his NTC for, but assistant coach Marc Crawford was the head coach of the Canucks when Burrows broke into the league in 2005-06. Also, the proximity of Ottawa to Quebec also a likely factor in the waiving.
As part of the deal, a two year contract extension was signed by Burrows.
Everyone in Vancouver knows Burrows story – going from an undrafted player in the QMJHL, to the ECHL, to the AHL, and then making the NHL.
Every fan has a plethora of great memories of Burrows in Vancouver. A list far too long to write down in reaction to the move. So I will leave you with the dragon slayer goal:
All the best to Burrows in Ottawa.
Jonathan Dahlen was selected 42nd overall by the Senators this past draft. His scouting report from Elite Prospects:
An offensively very skilled player. Dahlén is a good scorer and playmaker and quite shifty with fine technical skills and overall offensive awareness. Furthermore, an agile and creative player with great character. Skating might look suspicious at times, in some ways quite comparable to father Ulf’s, but he reaches good speed and and has impressive edge work. Good work ethic and a capable two-way player.
His stats can be found below:
This traded presents fantastic value for the Canucks, and is exactly what fans were hoping for when trading away pending free agents.
We will have a more in depth analysis of the trade in the coming days.
