Canucks Return Home With Nothing

Vingeault apparently has begun searching for Bobby Fischer as he thought last nights game was a great ‘chess match.’ I wonder if he especially liked the part in overtime when Quenneville devilishly stroked he mustache and uttered “checkmate.”

The snoozer I prophesied came one game late as the Vancouver Canucks made the Minnesota Wild look like the Harlem Globetrotters of Hockey. They definitely played the one forward, four back trap for 60 minutes.

Martin Havlat, troop leader of his band Eagle Scouts, scored with 2:44 remaining in the third period to push the game into sudden death overtime.

The citizens of Vancouver are outraged over the Canucks sitting in a one goal lead against the comeback kids. The reality of the situation: If Luongo had stopped Havlat’s shot, the city of Vancouver would be singing the team’s praises.

Vingeault was two and a half minutes shy of his perfect game. Gillis seems to have let the reigns loose and Vingeault has gotten trap happy. It is not exciting, but with our talent and Luongo on his game, we will come out on top more often than not.

I know it’s getting repetitive but this time my cries will be heard. Hit, Smash, Destroy! If we hit these Hawks they will falter. I wish I had a time machine so I could go back in time to Alain’s youth, destroy his chess board and replace it with Rock’em Sock’em Robots.  It’s high time we give these prepubescent adolescents a lesson in manhood.  By the way, if Sundin doesn’t finish at least one of his check’s, I am going to lose my mind.

On a positive note, Ryan Johnson is a god amongst men. Thank you Scott Mellanby. His shot-blocking ability is spectacular. It was off of one of his self sacrificing blocks that led to Hordichuk’s goal off of a spectacular setup from Rick Rypien. I swear to God, if I were Mayor of Vancouver, Johnson would have the key to the city around his neck.

Luckily, if this game remains a long drawn out, scoreless battle of the coaches, Vingeualt has home ice advantage for two of the last three games of the series. As advantageous as home ice may be, I think it is pretty safe to say that the winner of Saturday’s game will be the eventual winner of the conference semi-finals. We cannot lose game five to the Hawks.
