The Vancouver Canucks have announced that five players have reported symptoms of the mumps.
According to a press release sent out by the Canucks, Chris Tanev, Nikita Tryamkin, Mike Chaput and Markus Grandlund have reported symptoms of the disease, along with Troy Stetcher who has a confirmed test result.
“We’re taking this very seriously given how easily mumps can spread,” said Jim Benning. “We’ll continue to follow all protocools in accordance with Vancouver Coastal Health guidelines in order to prevent further infection,” Benning concluded.
The last time the NHL saw a mumps outbreak was in 2014 when five teams confirmed to have the mumps, which tallied up to 24 players being affected by the epidemic.
