Speaking to the media following today’s practice, Canucks head coach Travis Green confirmed that the club has sent Reid Boucher back down to the Utica Comets after a three-day stint with the Canucks in response to a run of injuries to their forwards.
Brendan Gaunce returned to the Canucks lineup in Tuesday’s 5-3 loss to the Calgary Flames and has played with the Canucks in their one game since. Markus Granlund, who didn’t play against the Flames due to an upper-body injury, joined the Canucks in Anaheim for last night’s 4-1 loss to the Ducks.
Lastly, we have the pending return of left winger Loui Eriksson to the Canucks lineup from about a four-week absence due to a knee sprain suffered in an October 14th loss to the Calgary Flames. No word on whether Eriksson will play for the Canucks in tomorrow night’s match against the San Jose Sharks, but if he did play, that would put him well ahead of the original timetable for a recovery.
Boucher didn’t play for the Canucks during his three-day call-up. In two pre-season games with the Canucks, Boucher didn’t register a point. In ten games with the Utica Comets, Boucher has ten points (three goals and seven assists) playing on the first line and top power play, with the odd shift on the penalty kill. In 27 games with the Canucks last season, Boucher had seven points (five goals and two assists).
The Comets play tonight against the Charlotte Checkers at 4 PM Pacific. It is unlikely that Boucher will suit up for the Comets in this game, but I’d imagine he’ll be available to the team in time for their next game, the following Wednesday against the Laval Rocket at 4:30 PM Pacific. As always, CanucksArmy will have you covered with full recaps for both games.
