A game at a normal hour, this we can all get used to. The Canucks make their way to Edmonton to face the Oilers. There will be goals, there will be rough stuff and you bet your beans there will be multiple slashing penalties. A few of the Canucks that played against Calgary will be looking to build off of big games.
Jake Virtanen is someone to keep an eye on tonight as well as his drive to the net. It might be too early to tell but Jake is getting good.
Time to play some hockey.
WATCH / LISTEN / FACE-OFF
TV: SN360 (MAYBE PACIFIC OR EVEN 1 AS WELL)
RADIO: SNET 650
PUCK DROP: 6:00 PM
LINE COMBINATIONS
Nothing has been posted for either team. Updates will come if there are any.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
  • Jordan Subban is pretty much on the border of being a lifetime Utica Comet. Unless he changes his ways in 60 minutes, there is a very good chance his fate has already been decided. Are we in for more terrible defensive play? Fancy goals? Anything?
  • CA darling Kailer Yamamoto should be in the lineup for Edmonton and his play for the Spokane Chiefs was worth watching in Junior so seeing him with NHL talent should be a treat.
  • Brock Boeser is still your leader of the Igloo League™ with an astounding six points. It may not last so we should enjoy it while we can. Of course, this could be the beginning and things could be so much better a few months from now.
  • Slashing penalties – these things aren’t going away and both teams could play a physical game this evening which could equate to about 30 penalties total. The nice thing about this is that the actual PP scorers are on THIS side of the Pacific Ocean.
  • The off chance Virtanen hits Connor McDavid again, that’s worth it for everyone. With our luck, they’ll sit out the reigning MVP.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
They let this guy run OilersNation?
MY TAKE
The team that stayed home is having slightly better luck than the international group. That being said, the Oilers are running wild on the NHL and it will take a lot to knock these guys off the top. I assume the Oilers will put up more of a fight than the Flames did so Jake Virtanen will need a bit more in the tank and Jordan Subban… well, he needs to hang back a bit more.
SCORE PREDICTION
The Canucks will score 5 goals and the Oilers will score 3 goals.
