Canucks Army Monday Mailbag: June 6th

The Vancouver Canucks enjoyed a quiet week, but fret not, because there are still questions aplenty about everyone’s favourite team for my answering.
After the Canucks last trade, though, I’d say we all deserved a quiet week. Like, I’m pretty alright with not having to discuss another offensive prospect or draft pick being dealt. Let’s do this again next week, Vancouver.

The Canucks have said that they have one defenceman in the top-six of their draft board and it’s very well established at this stage that Olli Juolevi is the number one defender on the Canucks draft board. It would only make sense, then, that Juolevi is the more likely of the two to be picked in that spot.
For whatever it’s worth, I have Juolevi above Logan Brown on my draft board. No matter how you slice it I think Brown would be a reach at five anyways.
At this stage, I think asking about either of Alexandre Burrows or Chris Higgins is purely academic. I would expect that at least one of them is bought out this summer. Wouldn’t rule out both, either. The likelihood of either of them making it to this point next season would be very surprising.
I also don’t think they’d require protection regardless. What Larry Brooks is reporting is that no-movement clauses will need protection, not no-trade clauses. That’s my interpretation, anyways. So Burrows and Higgins, who have no-trade clauses, won’t require protection.
I’m turning 25 next week, so I don’t remember anything about Logan Brown’s dad period. Except that he made a great pass to Pavel Bure in 1994. Or so I’ve been told.
Darrel Schroeder asks by email:
Lost in the kerfuffle over Gudbranson last week was the announcement that Luca Sbisa will be the only Canucks defenseman participating in the World Cup of Hockey this fall.  This obviously cements Sbisa’s position as the top defenseman on the Canucks roster.  Discuss.
This cements how thin the Suisse National Team is on the blue line. Nothing else.
