Tonight is the night.
Thursday took a lot out of everyone but we’re going to do this one… more… time. The Canucks travel to Edmonton to close out their season against the rival Oilers. Fitting that this game is the Sedins’ final game: they share the record with Jarome Iginla for most points (84) versus the Oilers since the Sedins entered the league. After Hours will have the Sedins on after the game so be sure to tune in to that as well.
Here’s hoping we all get one final night of Sedin magic to hold dearly. We were spoiled two nights ago and it felt so damn good we didn’t want it to end. 60 minutes from puck drop it will all be over and reality will set in that Henrik and Daniel Sedin will never play another shift for the Canucks. Thank you Sedins for giving this fanbase hope again. Hope as you grew with the team, hope as you reached your peak and hope that you’ve molded the current young team into the next Stanley Cup contender.
One last time, Canucks fans…

Henrik Sedin will center Daniel Sedin and Sam Gagner one final time.
Tonight, Ben Hutton’s struggles are forgotten (well, not really) and anything else we’ve criticized is left alone. The Sedins get the glory tonight.
Jacob Markstrom will start.

Nothing to report for the Oilers.
Goalies haven’t been the strong suit lately in the ol’ GDT so we’re leaving it blank.

THE FINAL SEDIN NOTEPAD
  • Daniel Sedin is T-1 for most road goals against the Oilers (19) since his debut in 1999. Jarome Iginla and Patrick Marleau are the other two. The home finale for Daniel was pretty special but could he take one more record with him this evening? Henrik Sedin leads all players in assists in that same category with 36 apples, 10 more than Joe Thornton. Daniel leads Henrik 45 points to 43 for total road points in Edmonton.
  • With one single point, Daniel Sedin will lead the Canucks in points this season. It’s been over a month since Brock Boeser’s season came to an end when he had 55 points. Good news for Canucks fans when you look at the torrid pace he was on prior to his injury.
  • Henrik has 1G and 6A in his last eight games. There have been a few zeros in there but when he’s on, he’s on. He also has nine multi-point games. Hitting double digits would be one more stat to make everyone get the feels.
  • Alex Edler can make his fellow Swedes proud if he blocks five shots tonight to have the second-most blocked shots in the NHL this season with 206. Imagine blocking 206 shots. People give Edler a lot of crap but the next closest Canuck is Michael Del Zotto with 127 blocked shots. You might want Edler to waive but he hasn’t wavered in his pride for this team.
  • If for whatever reason the Oilers can win tonight, they’ll be potentially tied for the 10th worst record in the NHL. The Canucks could potentially get the 28th overall spot with a win from Montreal and Arizona. The Sedins could give us one final gift with a narrow defeat in regulation.
THE FINAL TWITTER TAKE
Oh man, absolutely.
MY 94 CENTS
What a season it’s been! I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t quite sure how I would get through this year before it started. Having previewed every game for the past few seasons and seeing last season’s collapse, I didn’t know what to think of this year and it ended up being pretty entertaining. There was Brock Boeser and the many stories that came with that, Thomas Vanek, Erik Gudbranson’s neverending saga, good goaltending, very bad goaltending, Sedin milestones, All-Star Games, All-Star Game MVPs, “The Announcement” and “Thursday Night”.
It’s been a pleasure getting you all ready for every game this season and I hope to do it again in September when the next chapter of the Vancouver Canucks begins. Thank you so much checking in and leaving comments both good and bad, opinions and hot takes make this all worth doing. I hope to bring a different format to you next season so stay tuned.
Enjoy the playoffs!
THREE THINGS YOU’LL KNOW AFTER THE SEASON FINALE
  • There will never be another Henrik and Daniel Sedin and that may take some time to accept.
  • The season is over for both teams. Go enjoy hanging out with your kids, BBQing, drinking beer and watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs with zero stress.
  • Whatever Canucks team you’ve known will be drastically different come October. The Canucks as we’ve known them are no longer.
The Pint is your home for all things game day. Come down for game day specials like $5 mugs of bud and bud light and get 20% off food if you’re a season ticket holders
