CANUCKS ARMY GDT #72 – CANUCKS VS. COYOTES
By Always90four
9 years agoSo, um, quite a day yesterday hey? Canucks beat the Kings for the first time in what seems like forever, we now ALL hate Bill Simmons, and Eddie Lack revealed himself as a closet Swedish thug – a lot to take in for one afternoon. As big a win as that was, today is no different. The season series favours Arizona 2-1 with each team getting a blowout and then the Coyotes winning in a shootout.
The Arizona Coyotes have been on fire since the All Star break going 2-17-1 in their last 20. Did I say on fire? I meant literally on fire. They’ve shamed a nation, or at least the 2000 fans that show up nightly. Sadly, Vancouver was one of those wins. We remember that one. It’s not throwback night tonight so there shouldn’t be any reason the Yotes want to win as they are still a few points behind the Sabres for the best chance at the first overall pick.

The plan was to start Jacob Markstrom today in net with Eddie getting in quite the game yesterday. Even though Lack won, he needs rest for the playoffs. Zack Kassian and Brad Richardson are obviously out, and it looks like Alex Burrows is ok after taking a cheap hit from Tyler Toffoli yesterday.

Mike Smith will get the start tonight after playing yesterday as well. I suppose now they just play out their games and hope they lose more than they win. What a weird year for Arizona. Oh, Shane Doan still plays there.
HEAD TO HEAD
REASONS YOU SHOULD WATCH
- After that Kings game yesterday, you should be jacked up on Mountain Dew enough to keep the buzz rolling.
- Now, it probably won’t happen two games in a row, but can’t we wish for TWO #buttgoals?
- The Canucks have been playing some real interesting hockey lately and something tells me this one won’t disappoint either. I’d expect Bo Horvat to score in some fashion as well.
- Speaking of Bo Scorvat, he has 2G and 1A in his last 5 games and is pennies over 50% in the faceoff circle. A real good player for Willie.
- I highly doubt Bill Simmons would lower himself to watching the Canucks again this weekend because as he stated:
- Further to the Simmons apparent hate of the Canucks: we know you like Boston. But seriously guy, 2011, long time ago. Bruins won, get over it. I’m sure Tom Brady needs a foot massage or something so take your lagging credibility elsewhere. End rant.
- Vancouver is 5-2 since they last played Arizona and the Canucks last 3 wins have been by a score of 4-1. A fourth would be unlikely but hey, as JP from Angels in the Outfield says “It could hap-pun”
- Finally, whenever the Canucks play the Yotes, I can’t help but think of this funny little clip:
WHAT THEY ARE SAYING
MY TAKE
Hopefully the Columbus game was a lesson: you can actually lose to bad teams. The Canucks have an opportunity to create some space between themselves, the Kings and the Flames tonight. They need to keep the pedal down today. I do hope Arizona loses for another reason: how great would Connor McDavid and Max Domi be on a line? Great indeed. So go and lose today Coyotes, not for us….for you! You deserve it.
