A moment of silence before we start, please.
OK, now that everyone has hopefully recovered from the terrible incident that was “The Brock Boeser Injury Part 2”, it’s time to focus on the next game the Canucks have to play and it’s those pesky Arizona Coyotes again. Vancouver looked pretty good the last time they faced the Coyotes but they’ll be doing it this time with a drastically different lineup.
There will be points available and even though the race to the last place is still technically on, it’s unimaginable the Canucks will finish with a worse record than the Coyotes.

LINE COMBINATIONS
No need to do the rundown, Brock Boeser tops it all. Brendan Leipsic and Jake Virtanen will get top line duties with Bo Horvat for the foreseeable future, the Sedins will be flanked by Nikolay Goldobin, and with the Reid Boucher callup, it’s possible Sam Gagner and maybe Jussi Jokinen will get some time together.
Nothing new to report on defence.
Jacob Markstrom had some heart last game… and a win! He should start this evening.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
  • The void left by Boeser will need to be filled by budding star Brendan Leipsic and project power-forward Jake Virtanen. Both of the young guns are having a good little run right now and it’s possible it will continue this evening. Injuries can create opportunity and this is pretty much the ultimate opportunity for both players.
  • Both Henrik and Daniel Sedin were both shutout from continuing their point streaks and the Coyotes are ripe for the picking. A multi-goal game for Daniel Sedin seems very doable and Henrik Sedin could feast on the power-play if given the chance tonight.
  • Leipsic may have found a home with the Canucks. He previously had 1 point in 15 games prior to being traded to the Canucks from the Golden Knights. He currently boasts five points in the last three games and they’ve all been marvelous to watch. There is something brewing with Leipsic and the Canucks may have a new Alex Burrows.
  • As has been the story at many points this season, special teams could once again be in the spotlight this evening. Vancouver has scored five goals with the man-advantage in their last six games for a 27.8% completion rate. On the PK, the Canucks have allowed four goals on 21 chances for an 81% kill-rate. Arizona in that same time span has a dismal 8.7 PP% and is one full point lower on the PK. Vancouver could have a night tonight.
  • Arizona is currently five goals behind the Canucks for most goals allowed this season providing Vancouver posts one of those zero goals allowed games. Not sure if there is any kind of silver lining here. I guess, ouch!

Even though Boeser is lost for the rest of the season, finally checking out BenningNtheJets has put a smile on a few faces. There isn’t much else that will make you laugh right now.
MY 94 CENTS
#TeamTank is back on I guess? Thankfully, Brendan Leipsic, Jake Virtanen, and hey, Darren Archibald are all creating special stories to end the season and it’s not Brock or the Calder race but parts of the future are being written right now on this team and that is totally OK by me. There will be a lot of emotion on the Canucks bench tonight so I can’t imagine this one ends in a low-scoring finale.
EITHER / OR
Either Jake Virtanen’s Power Move Goal or Brendan Leipsic’s Dazzle Move Goal: This is the Coyotes, folks. Can they contain Jake? No, they cannot. Go all in on the Virtanen Power Move.
Either being outshot in the first period again or the Canucks scoring a windfall in honor of Brock Boeser: Can’t imagine the Coyotes have enough going on to pepper the Canucks like the Islanders did so it would be nice for the team to honor Brock. Pick that one.
