CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 60 – CANUCKS VS. FLYERS

With almost identical records, the Canucks take on the Flyers before their mandated “bye week” and if they can somehow pull it off again tonight, the Canucks can pull within a win of eight place in the West. The bye kind of crushes that but it will give everyone a week to dream about a better place.
We all deserve this, it’s been a trying season.
LINE COMBOS
We have been given what we asked for: Loui Eriksson was with the Sedins for long enough it didn’t work and quite frankly, neither did they. Bo Horvat has a speed pairing on either side of him so that fits and Brandon Sutter has two players that can compliment him.
This is the Canucks team you wanted, OK, with the players that are already there. It won’t get better after this so enjoy it.
Ryan Miller probably starts because honestly, it shouldn’t surprise you.

Philadelphia could start Steve Mason after Michal Neuvirth got trounced against Edmonton. We shall know soon.
Philadelphia Flyers lines courtesy of Dailyfaceoff.com:
  • There will be no repeat of the Alex Edler goal. This is fact. As a Blue Jays fan, though, that knuckler could put Edler in the starting rotation. It had the moves like Jagger.
  • Since I wrote my attack article and then half-retraction on Brendan Gaunce, he has bounced back. Gaunce put up two goals and an assist while in Utica and he has been a relevant forward upon his return. We’re sorry Brendan, nay, I’M SORRY. We need you.
  • Edler has points in six of his last seven games and yesterday’s dribbler gave him two in that time frame. If the Canucks are buying, Edler would have to waive but even if he did, he breaks so many sticks, who would want him?
  • As we near the Vegas expansion draft, we must look at the one player that Vegas should be clamouring for: Luca Sbisa. He leads all Canucks by a significant margin in TOI and has managed to be lucky enough to be around when big things are happening (the goals). Hate Willie Desjardins as much as you like, he may have figured out the cheat code that rids of us of Sbisa. Of course, unless you want to keep him.
  • There’s a good chance Ryan Miller plays tonight and if he does, he has won two of three against the Flyers as a Canuck, including one shutout. His knowledge of the Flyers while in the East definitely helped and maybe just maybe, the Canucks play a solid 60 minutes and get the rare back-to-back sweep.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
It has brought the personable side of hockey back to the fans. No B.S roundtable and sometimes you get the unexpected. It really is great.
MY TAKE
This is a hot taek if ever there was one: The Canucks BLOW OUT Philadelphia by five goals. Nikita Tryamkin has his best game of the season and Bo Horvat scores a pair. Outlandish? Absolutely.
WEEKEND SWEEP?
The Flyers have been shook lately, losing most recently to the Oilers and now facing a red-hot Canucks team Canucks team trying to gain ground by any means necessary. I really can’t figure out what the Canucks are but even this trainwreck can’t be missed.
