CANUCKS ARMY GDT 21 – CANUCKS @ FLYERS

The “City of Brotherly Love” welcomes the Canucks to town this evening as Vancouver takes on the Philadelphia Flyers. Last season, the Canucks failed to beat the Flyers in either of their meetings, but everyone remembers that last year’s team wasn’t exactly good. This season, both teams are in similar situations, but it’s the Canucks who need to take the next step.
Both teams have shoot-to-win options on their top lines, so this game could end up being a good ol’ slugfest on the scoresheet. Wouldn’t be the worst thing for the Canucks.
Let’s do this!
WATCH / LISTEN / FACE-OFF
TV: SNET-P

PUCK DROP: 4:00 PM
LINE COMBINATIONS
Chris Tanev won’t be quite ready for tonight’s game, Troy Stecher also isn’t ready so will Philip Holm get a shot? As for the rest of the lines, it doesn’t look like any changes thus far… stay tuned!
Anders Nilsson is the play to start after Jacob Markstrom got the win against the Penguins last game and Vancouver travels to Pittsburgh tomorrow.d

Dale Weise is not expected to play this evening which is a real shame. He was liked in Vancouver. This is the first game young star Nolan Patrick will play against the Canucks. Hopefully, he isn’t a Canuck-killer like so many random players seem to be. In other news, Radko Gudas is suspended until December 12 for his axe chop to Winnipeg’s Mathieu Perreault.
Michal Neuvirth is the starter… but will he finish?

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
  • Jakub Voracek doesn’t score a whole lot, but it would be in the Canucks best interest to break up any of his passes. Voracek currently sits T6 for scoring in the league with 25 points, 20 of which have come as assists. Brandon Sutter and Derek Dorsett may get a workout tonight.
  • Bo Horvat already has eight goals on the season which puts him on pace for just under 33 (32.8). Travis Green has given him the opportunity, and he’s making the most of it. A Canuck player that’s good? This is worth tuning in.
  • Brock Boeser is still at a point-per-game pace with 17 points thus far. The puck seems to find him, and from there it seems to find the net. Nolan Patrick may be the star in Philadelphia, but it’s possible Boeser will be the star of the night.
  • Both the Canucks and Flyers are in the Top 10 in the league for losses when outshooting their opponent, PHI with 6, VAN with 4. Considering the Canucks are one of the lowest event teams in the league, this might end up being a good night for Canucks Nation.
  • Special teams aren’t all that special for either club this year. Philadelphia and Vancouver are among the worst teams in the league in their respective home/road PK%. Again, if there are power plays this could be decided on the man-advantage. Nevermind, they’re both mediocre on the PP in the same categories. Maybe this will be an outlier?

MY 94 CENTS
Philadelphia has a ton of talent on their team from top to bottom. They were quite lucky to land Nolan Patrick and with players like Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny, their future looks like it’s in good hands. The Canucks have some young talent too, but the history the Canucks have with the Flyers doesn’t look too promising this evening.
OVER / UNDER
Brotherly Love/Sedin references on TV (+/- 2)     Take the under. Everyone knows it will get old quick.
