CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 17 – CANUCKS @ SENATORS

Your Canucks are in the nation’s capital…ok not entirely it’s actually the name of our country spelt horribly wrong. Kanata? Are you serious? With an uplifting win against the ‘Bus on Tuesday and the feels that came with it, a two-game win streak would be a nice way to keep this road trip interesting. Ottawa is still the most neutral fan base in Canada; they win people are decently happy, they lose and no one is the wiser. Lucky. Let’s beat these Spezza-less clowns.

LINEUPS

Jannik Hansen and the Sedins, go figure! I do like the moves Willie D has made up and down the lineup even with a few head scratchers along the way. Even if it WAS just one game of productivity, he’d be nuts to go back to Vrbata or even Burrows. Imagine if Burrows wasn’t given a second chance on his first go round? Higgins on the second line with Bo and Vrby is a bit iffy, but it isn’t a terrible look. Hutton once again made us smile so it’s only a matter of time before he’s named the new Tanev.
Ryan Miller had his one game break, he’s back in the 6×4.

Throwback Thursday in the big K (Kanata, remember?) so the Sens will most likely be wearing the opposite look they had at the Heritage Classic 2 seasons ago. Erik Karlsson is still making waves as one of the top d-men in the league and Ottawa has 4 players in the top 50 in scoring; they’re doing ok. The Sens PP and PK are dismal so if the Canucks actually had a powerplay, it’s safe to say they won’t let in a shorty and they might even score a man up. Real times people, real times.
Ottawa Senators lines courtesy of Dailyfaceoff.com:
  • A colossal night for Henrik, Daniel and Hansen on Tuesday could mean good things ahead, but that might be reading into it too much. They SHOULD be back playing together this evening and the Sens are ripe for the picking. Let’s be cautious Canucks fans; we’ve seen this movie before.
  • Throwback night wasn’t good to the Canucks last year when they played the Arizona’s and lost 3-2 in a shootout. The Canucks were abysmal when they played the Sens in the Heritage Classic so could they exorcise their demons on THIS throwback night? Never a better time for a change than today.
  • Canadian Tire Centre is the venue for this epic matchup so for every goal scored against or as some may say every time the Senators disappoint their fans, everyone gets $1 of Canadian Tire money. That my friends screams opportunity.
  • The sophomore slump seems to have hit fellow large headed star Curtis Lazar. Through 12 games, he has 2G and 1A. We can all get up in arms about Bo Horvat not being balls crazy this season but not every kid is a point a game player…at least ours has 5 points. Even Brent Gretzky had his ups and downs.
  • I’m feeling psychic today so I’m going with Yannick Weber as the star of the night. 2 PPG for this gent and the Internets can calm themselves. If he’s going to work there, he has to be utilized. Although the way this season is going, don’t be surprised if Derek Dorsett cleans up.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Real interesting story here! Will the Canucks hold the unofficial worst title come Friday morning?

MY TAKE

The Senators bore me. They always have. They are the team that forced one of my favourite Canucks, Roberto Luongo, to Florida, they got our last coach fired AND they fired the BEST moustache in hockey who may or may not be a human walrus. So Ottawa, I want you to continue your losing ways and its all Canucks this time: 6-1.
