Everyone wanted goals. Heck, they wanted shots. The shots came in Montreal last night, a whole lot of ’em. 42 to be exact. The Canucks did. not. score. at. all. I’m beginning to think this team is some kind of snake bitten. They’ve played pretty well in a handful of games but the puck just isn’t going in for them. Vancouver will play its second game in as many nights versus a Senators team that beat out the Hurricanes back on Tuesday.
The Canucks need a spark and there has to be a win hidden in this road trip somewhere, maybe that’s tonight?

Nikita Tryamkin has been practising with Luca Sbisa so there has to be a game soon where the big Russian finally gets his season debut.
Didn’t know Derek Dorsett was healthy enough to play yesterday so he is officially back. Welcome back? Willie Desjardins has sure been confusing with how he’s set this team up line by line but then you look at the results and the confusion goes away.
Jacob Markstrom should start tonight as Ryan Miller was put to the test yesterday.

Ryan Dzingel is back for more, I think maybe he should be covered better this time.
Mike Condon is now a Senator after being traded from Pittsburgh. Everyone by now has heard about Craig Anderson’s wife and her battle with cancer and with the possibility of him needing a leave of absence, they needed to make sure they actually had goaltenders.
Anderson should get the start tonight.

GAME NOTES, STATS AND OTHER INTERESTING THINGS
- Maybe you’ll believe this, maybe you won’t: the Canucks are dead last in goals scored. They have only managed 16 goals so far and to be honest, it kind of feels like it. It only gets tougher so just keep putting pucks on net like Don Cherry always says. He’s right some of the time, now would be a good time to flip the switch.
- Like the goal stat, the power play is unplugged. Only the Boston Bruins are operating at a worse clip, 6.3% to the Canucks 9.1%. They’ve had chances so it’s not like they can say that part of their game isn’t tested.
- Loui Eriksson needs to be with Bo Horvat. Horvat is a playmaking centre and Brandon Sutter, although hard working, isn’t the guy for Loui. Don’t change things up just yet, but if Willie is indeed on the hot seat, he’ll need to have answers soon.
- Even though Henrik and Daniel Sedin are looked at to be the leaders on the score sheet as well as everywhere else, the start of their season has looked like a shell of it’s former self. Again, this may all be a big slump but even the Sedins don’t look like things are turning around.
- The Cubs won the World Series last night, I wonder how long it will take the Canucks? For you know, the Stanley Cup… not the World Series.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
We all needed a laugh. This is that laugh.
MY TAKE
Considering the Canucks outshot the Canadiens last night by almost double, you’d think there would be goals to talk about today. I don’t have any clever Mike Duffy jokes left and the Senators did just play the Canucks a week ago so aside from the Canucks still losing, goals really are where they should start their concerns. How long until Nolan Patrick?
WILL THE CANUCKS WIN?
Nope.
