Another week, another podcast. This week we get back to reality with the regular format of two guests, we will go across the pond to Europe to talk about SHL prospects in the 2019 NHL draft and also stay close to home with a fellow CanucksArmy writer.
We start with Swedish hockey prospect guru Jimmy Hamrin of McKeen’s Hockey, Jimmy has been writing about prospects for years and contributes to one of the elite sites for NHL draft coverage. We start off chatting about some Swedish defencemen in this upcoming draft as McKeen’s has three of them ranked in their top 20. Victor Soderstrom gets a lot of chatter as I have been a big fan of his since I first watched him play.
We also chat about the pros and cons of Phillip Broberg and touch on a few other interesting defencemen in the SHL including a 21 year old right shot d-man who led the SHL in scoring from the back end on one of the worst teams in the league.
After that we are joined by CanucksArmy writer Ryan Hank, also known as always90four. We talk about all things Canucks and do another wrap-up of the season that was for the home team. We chat about the futures of guys like Nikolay Goldobin, Jake Virtanen and Brandon Sutter, the future of the management group and also look a bit forward into the upcoming draft with the Canucks picking tenth overall.
We also talk about Ryan’s time at CanucksArmy and what some of his offseason predictions are for the Canucks as they move into arguably the most important offseason of Jim Benning’s GM career.
